George Balanchine / Sharon Eyal / Akram Khan
The Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre presents its first premiere of 2021 – a new program of one-act ballets that includes a new run of George Balanchine's Concerto Baroque (continued from 2018/19 season) as well as the Russian premieres of Autodance by Sharon Eyal and Kaash by Akram Khan.
To quote the Swedish press reviews, Autodance is “both exquisitely intelligent and entertaining”. The ballet was staged by the famous Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal in collaboration with Guy Behar for the Gothenburg Ballet in 2018. According to Eyal, the piece has been created from pure movement. The dancers appear non-gendered, and the viewers’ attention focuses on their accentuated legs. Autodance seamlessly integrates dance, techno music and technique – it is a visually complex, ecstatic and well-structured performance.
The production was produced in collaboration with the Mart Foundation.
The premiere of Autodance is supported by the Embassy of the State of Israel in the Russian Federation.
